How to use Fornix Menstrual Disc
1) Wash your hands and your disc.
-
Before first use and between cycles, sanitize your Fornix Menstrual Disc by placing it in boiling water for approximately 5 minutes and put the storage pouch provided in the laundry. To prevent your disc from burning at the bottom of your pan, you can place it in a whisk or closed tongs.
-
Another way to sanitize your disc is to clean all its surfaces with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth and allow it to dry thoroughly.
-
Before inserting, wash your hands and your Fornix Menstrual Disc with mild (pH-balanced), fragrance- and oil-free soap and water. Rinse it well and check that there is no soap residue left.
3) Insert your disc.
- Relax and get into a comfortable position to insert your disc. For example, you can sit on the toilet, squat or lift one leg.
- With two fingers of the other hand, spread the labia minora of your vulva.
- With the disc still folded and the basin down, insert the end opposite the handle or tab into the entrance to the vagina.
- Aim the disc horizontally towards your back until the back rim of the disc (displaying the Fornix logo) is behind your cervix.
4) Tuck the disc above your pubic bone.
-
With your finger, move the push rim up as high as possible, so that the disc is tucked above the pubic bone in the vaginal fornix.
-
To check the positioning of the disc, touch your pubic bone with a finger, then your cervix through the basin membrane.
-
When your disc is correctly positioned, you should have the feeling of wearing nothing. Your pubic bone should be located under the rim of the disc and your cervix in the basin. If not, remove your disc and reinsert it.
5) Remove and clean the disc after a maximum of 12 hours.
- After wearing the disc for up to 12 hours, wash your hands and relax.
- Remove the disc by pulling the handle, rim, tab ring or stem until it is completely out of the vagina.
- Empty its contents into the toilet or shower.
- Rinse it in cold water, then clean it in warm water with a mild, fragrance- and oil-free soap before reinserting it.
- Avoid removing the disc by pulling on the basin membrane to avoid damaging the silicone.
6) Sanitize and store the disc.
-
At the end of your cycle, wash and sanitize your Fornix Menstrual disc by placing it in boiling water for approximately 5 minutes or by cleaning all its surfaces with 70% isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth.
-
Allow it to dry thoroughly, then store it in the pouch provided or in a well-ventilated area.
